Our PURITY system generates bromine from sodium bromide salt through the process of electrolysis. This process breaks the salt into its basic elements of sodium, and bromine. After the bromine does its disinfecting work it converts back into salt and is recycled back into bromine as it passes the electrodes, so the same salt is used over and over again.

A quart bottle of sodium bromide is added to treat your spa water which provides a very low salinity level of less than 1,000 ppm. This low salinity level will not harm your spa or filtration equipment. You will not taste the salt in the water. Once a year your spa water will be drained and filled with fresh water and a bottle of sodium bromide added to your water. Our instant ions are added as needed to ionize the water so that the bromine level can be maintained at 1/10th the normal level providing the best water quality available. It is like relaxing in soft silky mineral water.

PURITY is easily installed to new or existing Spas. Your spa water must be drained and your spa rinsed and cleaned, and then filled with clean fresh water. The control box is attached to the cabinet, and the power supply is connected to the Spa equipment inside the cabinet. The drop in cell is placed in the spa water, or our in-line cell is installed to the 24 hour circulating pump on spas with have a 24 hour circulating pump, or you must add our 24 hour spa circulating pump kit model SCPK to use our inline cell.

Why do you use bromine and not chlorine?

Chlorine is much harder on electrodes reducing the life of the cell. Bromine is a more effective sanitizer than chlorine at the higher spa water temperatures. Bromine generators require a much lower salt level which is better for your spa and spa equipment. Bromine generators use much less power, saving energy.

Why do I need to ionize my spa water?

By ionizing the spa water you are able to maintain only .2 to .5 ppm of bromine. Without the ionization you would need 10 times as much bromine. This gives you much better water quality, and reduces the cost of the generator as the size is reduced. That is why PURITY Model PBSL comes with a year supply Instant Ions and a copper test kit. Can I use any sanitizers with PURITY?

You should never need to add any other sanitizer as PURITY will provide all the sanitation your spa needs. If you need to you can only use a non chlorine or bromine shock, but no more than necessary. This shock will activate the sodium bromide providing a bromine residual. You must not use any other sanitizers

How often will I need to change my spa water with PURITY?

You can go a year or more without changing your water, saving you time and money?

What do I need to know about my spa when ordering? If you want to use our inline cell, you will need to know if your spa has a 24 hour circulating pump (only a few do), or if our 24 hour circulating pump kit can be installed to your spa. You need to be able to get to a 3/4" water line and have room to install the pump. Most spas have manifolds that supply 3/4" flex lines to the spa jets. We need to know if your 3/4" lines are PVC or vinyl. Vinyl lines are usually clear.

PURITY model PBSL requires 24 hour operation, so this Kit is required if your spa does not have a 24 hour circulating pump. The large 2 speed pump only operates a few hours a day and will not work to provide 24 hour operation.
